I think the character design, while I doubted it originally has grown on me in a big way.

I'm looking at the game like a batman begins for a new Ninja Adventure. When all is said and done, it may not do anything that makes it stand apart from other games of this nature, but they seem to execute on a very high level. A lot of what I saw looked fantastic and if just for the game's cooler moments -- or the combat which looks more than acceptable, although I hope a little more challenging, then this game doesn't look like too bad of an investment.

To be on the fair side of things, I'm going to admit that this game far exceeds Ninja Gaiden 2"s cinematic action. Ninja Gaiden 2 was indeed a great game, but I was expecting more puzzle solving and back tracking than the first game. Instead Team Ninja just gave us more action ( you know, proceed through the level, kill all enemies, fight mid boss/boss and move on to next act). By this game taking the text sensitive approach of letting the gamer interact within cutscenes, From has taken the Ninja Gaiden2 formula and achieved something that I would have expected from Team Ninja's ninja game. I welcome this game and let's face it, now that Itagaki is no longer a part of Team Ninja, we may never see another Ninja Gaiden game of Dead or Alive under his helm. He seems to always warm up to Microsoft alot, so I'm expecting some big news from his future and where he stands with Microsoft. I think a console can never have too many rpgs. So let's cross our fingers.

It does far exceed Ninja Gaiden 2's cinematic action.

A lot of what I'm seeing from this game I hoped I would see from Ninja Gaiden.

I know it won't be as deep as NG2, as I've already pointed out, but I think it looks a lot more fun and a whole hell of a lot more interesting. This one seems to have really succeeded in making the ninja look cool in a way that I hoped Ninja Gaiden 2 would, but didn't.

This reminds me of a God of War, but for Ninjas.

Have to say I have fairly high hopes for this one.
It's from the same team as Otogi, which was a really underated series on Xbox.
Also, since the creative mind/s behind NG are now gone, a spot has opened up for a new action game such as this.
Sure, we have DMC but that's more about OTT flair and doesn't really take itself seriously.
Either way, I'll be keeping one eye on the progress of this game.

The big problem will be the lenght... I can't see a much bigger than 5 hour game here, here.

No one noticed the rediculous camera cut to the eye every freaking time? They take themselfs way too serious, with that much over the top action they could throw in some humor.. or just do it more esthetic.

On another note: My interest in Ninja games died with NG2. The gameplay was excellent and whatever but it missed the charm of the first NG, the puzzles and the acrobatics. I didn't even bother to finish it, it was the same over and over again. The "stroy" bored me to death, litterly.

I have the same impression of NG2, which is why I have a bit of hope for this one.

Yea, they could afford to cut down on the camera pan and zoom to the eye, but it won't hurt too much. The game clearly tries to take itself very seriously. Nothing wrong with that as long it as it's executed solidly overall. The game is striving to be an attention whore so pretty much nothing will surprise me. On the length of this one, it wouldn't be surprised donkeyman if it weren't very long. If this game actually ends up hitting the 12-15 hour mark, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If it hits the 17+ and beyond, I'll be blown away. Personally, I want quality over quantity.

I'm hoping the game has a more challenging difficulty level than what has been on display in the videos so far. They seem to be taking themselves seriously on the whole wow factor and cinematic stuff they're going for and I wouldn't mind seeing it carry over to the dialogue and story. When I'm done with the game, I want to be able to look back on it and say: "I actually really gave a damn about this character and what they were involved in"

The eye-zoom-thingy is there to alarm you that a QTE is coming, and although I generally dislike QTE's, I hate QTE's without any precautions even more. I actually quite digg that "get ready" approach to it.

As for the game itself, I am getting more interested in it after seeing some vids. I still think it's cheesy as hell and the setting is just totally out of place. But, games like these don't come around very often and if the game isn't incredibly frustrating ala NG2 (seriously...) it might be a nice early 2009 surprise...

The Misc Gamplay bit restored my faith, it DOES kinda look like a Heavenly Sword gameplay, but the fact that it has MGS3 bees for enemies, some of them have shields for a defense stance, and when you kill'em they explode like the Buffy Vampires, it seems even more like a big hybrid of a game for anyone start calling it a pure Ninja Gaiden Rip-off.
Looks more like a Shinobi type of game.

Looks pretty good, don't understand the moaning.

But it's not gonna be NG over again, people shoudl take the game for what it is.

This looks great.
I'm happy to see some software houses in Japan are still taking the 360 seriously enough...

Although I WOULD be much happier with another Otogi...beautiful games, they were.

Of course there's a resemblance to Ninja Gaiden, but this guy catches motorcycles in the air, and rides them on top of steel beams.

That alone should warrant a purchase of this game.

Errr... From Software was the #1 Japanese Dev to fully support the original Xbox inspite of the PS2 dominace, last gen.
So... why wouldn't they keep doing it, if not more strongly this gen ( wich they started years ago with Chromehounds, etc ) when PS3 is in fact the running to the 3rd place this gen?

Well, now that I see it, they do support consoles who don't sell so well as the #1 seller, so it makes sense PS3 has some games from them as Xbox had last gen. That's why they're gonna release that shitty lookin' king's field wannaba from TGS.
