The graphics are good, but not impressive. But the sound is really good. Especially the sounds of the weapons. It gives them that 'punch', if you know what I mean. That was one thing that COD4 was really missing.
Looking forward to playing this game.
Agreeing with you mostly, there are a few exceptions to the weapons with punch (atleast the last time I heard it) because the revolver sounded soooo scrawny and pathetic, which is sad, because I'm used to the bad ass ownage revolver in like, Half Life 2, etc.

Can't the developlers inclued a option to switch off... all that god damn BLUR, Jesus Christ!
It's part of what makes this game look good, as they can disguise uglier looking stuff with it.. The engine this game uses looks a lot like UE3 imho, it uses the same tricks to make it look good..

I would have loved to see this game on PC aswell.. Because now I'll probably never play it, unfortunatly.. But I understand consolemanufacturers need exclusives to sell their hardware.. Still kindof sucks though you need 4 platforms to have access to all videogames that matter these days..

-Too many effects, too many f**** effects. The whole screen turns blue-ish, then a grenade explodes and now the screen is blue-ish and red-ish, and then then a bunch of blue lines fill out the whole screen from top to bottom, and then all this mixed with the blur............and it is just too much. They have to tone it down, and I don't think it'll happen. This isn't all the time, but when it happens it's really bad. To see an example of this see the scout video.
The blue effect in the scout vid is when they use the scan system to ID targets.

The blur isn't as heavy as many are making out,I can imagine when your looking at the screen and playing it you hardly notice it because were your focusing,Also it's hiding nothing, look at the last vid,the security cam view has no blur and you can see how awesome the textures are,

I feel that all the comments about textures, blur, doesn't look impressive really makes people sound a little fanboyish, because it's obvious from the games MP graphics that the game is a big step up next to any console game on the market.I would say the total package is more impressive than most high end PC games.

All I know come february I'm getting on of the most impressive games that's ever been made, and I'm going to love it.

No it's not.... UE3 doesn't do anythign ont he same level.

And even if the blurrign weren't an incredible effect the game would stand up on it's own. Not many games can do environmentla and object blurring togther, AND then have AA on top. Infact take note that the UE3 engine can only do one of these things.

The blurring isn't hiding anythign and you get used to it, and damn it looks amazing.

And also, art direction is subjective, i guess, for the people that aren't liking it, but it actually why I think the game is better than the infamous Cg trailer. The Cg trailer had awful artistic direction, this really has it in droves. And oppressive clean cut feel. With an almost greyscale setting pin pricked with orange and turquoise.

Man I really like it the way it is, I am glad they aren't changing it.

Awesome Game! From sound, graphic to gameplay. And it has something that other games didn't have (like for example even Gears). Characteristic graphic (for example effects) and art style (real dark brutal sci-fi) that cannot be mistaken with any other game.

I disagree with this entirely.

And I disagree with this entirely.

Example? Gears can be eaisly mistaken with UT3 (especially graphic and effects). Not to mention other games which uses Unreal Engine (they look worse than Gears but effects are similiar). And IMO art style almost doesn't exist in Gears (always when playing it I have feeling that I saw many things in other games).

Art style doesn't exist in Gears? Riiiight.

From what I've seen, KZ2 doesn't have much of an art style except for some of the enemies which people have already mentioned were pretty much copied from some anime.

Maybe I'm wrong...but if I am, then so are you.

I know Bungie has been very outspoken about never distracting the player with too many visual effects in multiplayer. It'll be interesting to see how Killzone 2 fares with that kind of approach to gameplay, as Geurrilla seems to be taking the opposite direction.

I don't know why Gears always has to get drawn into every Killzone thread. In any case, both are great looking games that do different things well.

I think Killzone looks very nice but imo the graphics are also being overhyped. The ps3 definently has some nice looking games but I think the fanbase would do new releases a favor by not overhyping every one if they're an exclusive (although I realize this occurs to some extent on all platforms).

One issue I have with the graphics are the monotone textures. I know some people have attributed this to the art direction, but my guess is that it's more to do with memory limitations. Beyond that though, I think it looks very good (especially the lighting and effects) and I guess when it comes to textures the 'next-gen' consoles are just starting to show their age.

From what I've been able to check it seems like the stream isn't working from North America. Low quality stream should work, but otherwise I'm sorry to say I can't do anything about it.

I don't want to ahve to defend this game this much, becuase it doesn't need it. But in comparison, I am pretty sure that yes one has a 90's powerangers feels to it, while the other is a bit more gritty and realistic.

And seriously, that might have sounded like a dig, but if you don't like powerangers well then you're dead inside.

Killzone 2 has a superb art style though, that feels modern an clean cut in a way Gears 2 doesn't.

Things I like:
-The multiplayer is looking quite good to be honest, but that's just from looking.\n
-The graphics manage to look pretty badass, and the physics actually do something.

Things I don't like:
-The blur effects. They are obviously NOT trying to hide anything, but trying to simulate a "human-eye" effect. Well it doesn't work, it gets annoying very quick. They should tone it down a lot, the weapons are awesome detailed, they should show it.

Anyways, like I said before, this game is looking really good and as far as graphics people complaining should just simply be slapped. "The blurred textures!", come on, the game does much much more than that.
wtf? The blue thing is the scouts cloaking. Are you watching these in HD? The blur is there but not overwhelming and the effects are outstanding. Sometimes I think people are just used to their flat looking games, embrace the effects for what they are.

Console games have horrible textures compare to most of the PC games,as PC have 1-4GBs ram as a support to the GPU ram.
Its just fanboys and the game industry want you to believe your experience match what is being sold on PC.

And I find that is alway PS3 titles when people complain about textures, but not much been discuss on the damn textures showed on the first few stage in GEOW2.
It didnt surprise me,that is what they want you to believe.

Funny how KZ gets a free pass when it comes to a modern/realistic art style and other games are considered to not even have an art style if they go for a similar look.

I wasn't intending to bash KZ2 in any way; I think it looks absolutely fantastic. I do, however, think GoW2 has a more...stylistic approach to its look than KZ2...minus the colourful lens flares.

Every time this game managed to pick up an argument (usually involving Gears). It's pretty ridiculous.

The game looks amazing, and personally I think the blur in the game is beautiful, who cares if it's exaggerated or not realistic, it's a game, it's a piece of art.

I'd agree with Ronsauce that gears is more stylistic, you only have to look at the size of the main character's biceps to see that the style is very overt, that and the constant use of grey and blue. No discredit to Killzone though which has more of a gears + cod4 look to it (i just pulled that out of my ass tbh).
