i think i've fallen in love with this game...and the sniper...

by the way blur effects add to the 'heavy' appeal, which seem more immersive than excessive, and all the effects and guns and explosions combine to make a truly beautiful looking and feeling game

can't wait to pick up a ps3 for this, mgs4 - little big planet - drakes fortune and this straight after exams...

Maybe I exaggerate in sentence with art style (sorry for that) but the point was that for example the two Epic games (UT3 & Gears) look to much similiar. Get Marcus or maybe Locust skin like a DLC for UT3 and they will suit in it perfectly.

Why I choose Gears for an example? It's simple. If compering something, then compare to the bests (Gears is TPS and KZ2 is FPS, so I don't compare gameplay and other things characteristic to any of the genres, but both games are sci fi shooters about fighting with alien race). End.

Sorry but all this "Gears 2 could be mistaken for UT3" crap is just laughable. Have you even played Gears 2? It's got a very memorable and standout style throughout the game with some jaw dropping environments that look nothing like anything seen in UT3. Your opinion might be that it does, but the fact is it doesn't. It really doesn't.

If anything, Killzone 2 is the one to wiggle the finger at here at being another "grey grey grey" shooter (that looks really good mind, but it's still way too monotone imo) which many games this generation have already done. In fact, thinking about it, in my OPINION it's probably one of the least inventive art styles we've seen this gen.

Don't get me wrong, it looks great graphically. But there have been a ton of games who have already done the "grey and gritty" approach this gen before. Why does it suddenly become realistic and unique instead of "grey and greyer" all of a sudden just because it's a PS3 exclusive?

To much blur they need to cut back on it ..... but that aside the only thing I like is the lighting effects .... but other then that its another bland shooter I don't see anything creative at all .... Like Gears have the chainsaw and BFBC have destructed environment where you can blow in a whole wall but this is just a plain old shooter with very little destructed environments

Wasn't the first Gears released like a year before UT3?

Jesus Christ, all the guys here moaning about the blur have no idea.
The blur effects are great, they add a lot of intensity to everything and create an actually realistic depth of field, it might look a bit strange in the videos, but believe me, while playing its incredible. And also stop talking about low-res textures, they look photorealistic from distance, the effect theyre producing is insane. And by all the stupid comments here, almost no one is talking about the best light effects in gaming history here. Every light source creates realistic shadows and that also means the guns. When youre in a small alley and someone shoots in front of you, you almost forget playing because it looks so breathtaking.

And thats all only graphics yadda yadda, the gameplay is at least as impressive, the whole feeling, the "weight", how the weapons react, the aiming, the balancing, just everything fits perfectly.

And Gears 2 only has 10 people at once online while KILLZONE 2 up to 32, and please dont comment with a stupid "that fits better to the game" bullcrap.

We are saying the feel of the weapons, animation, movement feels realistic nothing else.

And why must people troll on a big title like Killzone 2, because its a PS3 exclusive?

Killzone 2 being a bad art this gen?
Good thing the franchise started with PS2 gen and not this.

I suggest you play or read up on the story of this game.

Let me guess, you think the Helghast is "alien race"?
Do they look alien to you?

They are humans, Killzone franchise dont have aliens.

So much ridiculous nitpicking.

Just to mention it, blur is one of the coolest effects to add in a fps.

I allways thought that fps on PCs looked weird, because you look around corners as fast as a paranoid H-addict, but still you see the environment as sharp as a razor. Thats just not how the human eye work.

Allthough this effects make KZ2 a bit less playable, because you see enemies later and stuff, KZ2 feels hugely immersive and realistic.

Actually the ammount of players combined with the type of game and size of the maps etc is very important to the overall experience of a game, and therefor it's not a crap comment at all if made.. I'll let you enjoy your 32 player game, like that's anything special (I've been playing big player ammount games forever on PC).. I hope it fits the game.. The video's look a bit chaotic though, like the maps are overcrowded, like 32 players in CoD4, not my kind of fun tbh.. But I guess you can always limit the ammount of players when hosting..

That leaves another question.. Does this game support dedicated servers? And will everybody be able to host one? And if so, how? Using an extra PS3, or maybe even PC?

Console games have horrible textures compare to most of the PC games,as PC have 1-4GBs ram as a support to the GPU ram.
Its just fanboys and the game industry want you to believe your experience match what is being sold on PC.

And I find that is alway PS3 titles when people complain about textures, but not much been discuss on the damn textures showed on the first few stage in GEOW2.
It didnt surprise me,that is what they want you to believe.
thats rubbish mostly....Crysis and warhead are the only games Ive played on pc which have been beyond what Ive played on consoles...farcry 2 looks excellent, but really nothing else comes close to those two...some of the upcoming strategy games like Empire will blow the doors open though

You click on create a room and then you host.
Everyone can host and ive never experienced problems with that (except when the host leaves, there is a pretty stupid text message on screen and a new host gets choosen).

And of course the number of players is important, but i bet with you, if it wouldve more everyone would be glad about it.
And yes i also played games with more players on-screen, also on console (like Resistance 2 with 60 players). I just threw it in the discussion because of the comparisons, and im very sure that the player limit in Gears has a technical reason.

And by the way, i think both Gears of War games are fantastic, even when i completely dislike the artstyle, so dont get me wrong.

Could you name a game that could match with Doom3?
Or F.E.A.R.?PC version,4years old)?
What about STALKER?
You know what, even S.W.A.T.4?Likly 4 years,no so sure) may pain R6V2 in the ass.
Console game have never match PC's textures?from the very begin.

You're right, let them talk (it's no use anyway).. Only when you have a sub-par gaming PC, games will not look better on it then on a Xbox 360 or PS3.. I've played HL2, BiA-HH, GRiD, among others all on both my Xbox 360 and PC, and all of them look better on my PC.. Higher textures detail, higer resolution, more AA and AF.. Who cares some say it's isn't so when you see and know yourself it is so, their loss.. Let them dream about their superconsole.. ;)

And you're right about GoW2 aswell, there are some really bud-ugly low-res textures in that aswell, but I think overall it still looks pretty damn amazing on a 3 year old gameconsole.. Same with Killzone 2 on the PS3 (which really is also 3 year old tech except for it's Blu-ray drive), it looks very nice..

i'm a pc gamer q6600@3.6GHz, 2 GTX280s in sli, 4 gigs of ram etc, etc. ALL multiplatform games on a gaming PC look better, it's a known fact.

the exclusives to the consoles are what define it's potential, when it comes to textures and shadows, no console game out currently has come close to uncharted, and then there's killzone2 and god of war3 coming to help further push the console's capabilities(but the important thing to note is that all these game's engines were built ground up and fully optimised for the ps3's architecture) an architecture that has more potential than the 360's but is harder to develop for, so it's up to sony really to show what it can do, not 3rd party devs, kojima is an exception.

Gears 2 is an UE3 game(a pc engine) running on the 360, it's a middleware engine and performs well enough on the 360 due to the 360 having a very pc like architecture, it could easily run on the ps3 but after having some optimisations.

let's stop worrying about the tech mumbo jumbo, and appreciate killzone 2 for what it is, a very promising upcoming title, and on dec 4th there's going to be more info coming about it's single player campaign.

Agree.
In a graphical argue, only graphic may speak.Textures,effect,artstyle,framerate.None of they matter, but all of them matter.
This is all about what showed on screen, and that is a complex experience, which every thing count, but none of they should be cut to be a single matter.
If you want to compare textures in A to textures in B,that's another story.Texture's argue,so only texture matter.

GEOW2,over all I disappoint on the first few level, where Epic try to make some open battle,to me those stage look even worse than GROW1...
But after delta team separate into a two man squab,I feel GEOW are back and alive, and rock some great time in the other half of the game.

Obviously the PC is the superiour platform, technically...and yet the most beautifull looking games appear on the consoles.

It's not all about the specs, it's about what the developers are doing with the available resources, and the consoles are obviously being used in a much more efficient way. I love how PC fanboys always come out and boast about AA this, textures that, but fail to realise very few games actually deliver a more georgeous experience like say a Gears2.

It puts all other console games to shame with it's incredibly realistic lighting and animations. You should stop playing games altogether if you are not impressed by this game. You have no future in the gaming world please leave quietly.
