2008-07-05 10:19:29 Really slow downloads?

Hi there!

I have had really slow downloads from gamersyde.com during the last couple of weeks. I have an 8/1 mbit/s connection and the download is by maximum at 10 kb/s no matter what server I am downloading from (except openXbox360 at 70 kb/s). Are you guys having any kind of slowdowns or what might be the problem? I live in Sweden and I haven´t experienced any problems when downloading from other sites.

I´ve heard about other people had problems entering www.gamersyde.com and navigating on the site, but thats not the problem for me! Only downloading files.

Server #5 is supposed to be slow for everyone but the frenchies, but the others *should* work nicely for everyone else.

Okay, so I shall use the DE servers in the future then? but whats with the backup server. I know its supposed to be used when the others are down, but wouldn´t it be good if it could also be used as a backup server when the others are full. Maybe you can (in some way) show the acitivity on each server so we can split all downloads equal. That will increase download speed for everyone, or am I wrong? and also, this makes perfect sense for the backup servers purpose, when both DE servers are full, we will know and are able to use the backup server instead.

I will test download via the DE servers and check the download speed, I will write a new post when thats done.. thanks for a great site with a lot of great gamevideos.. I appreciate your work =)

EDIT, I am now downloading via both DE servers and it´s constantly at 450 kb/s. Have you done something since I wrote my first post? because the downloads was not near as fast as they are now.. Well, great that it works now..

Yeah, in fact it all depends on the peering from OVH to your ISP. Obviously since OVH is a French company they have lots of peering with the other French ISPs, but they also have some in other countries too.

I have been struggling to get a download to complete for quite a while now. Every link I try stalls out. =(

I'm currently trying to get the newer Far Cry 2 video, WMV format. I'm in CA, USA.

Happened again on my next try. My stream even froze up during the ad when I tried that.

I have had issues with downloads for months now; it's intermittent. Seems that I can "pause" and "resume" my downloads however, if I catch them in time. But that's annoying - I have to do it several times for a file to finish, on average.

Just thought you would like to know.

Have you tried using a download manager? Open Xbox360 is always blazing fast for me.
