Rather than require new hardware as DirectX 10 did, DirectX 11 will be completely compatible with DirectX 10 and 10.1 cards - but will, like its predecessor, only support Windows Vista.
Hmm interesting. I am sure that all features won't work but better than what DX9 to DX10 jump was.

So how does tesselation fit into this? They better not have dropped it because, pointedly, only ONE IHV doesn't support it and it should have been manditory in D3D10.

Hmm not sure. The second link says there is support for it but there is not much info about it. I guess we need to wait more.

If I understood right there is going to be DX11 hardware and then DX10 hardware can only do some of the features of DX11. So I guess Ati is going to have better support for DX11 (with older cards that support DX10.1).
