are they worth the money ? i was going to get the ethernet cable but, really i dont want to either lift up the carperts or have a wire going all through my house so would the wireless network adapter be worth getting ?

Depends on the situation.. If it's a regular desktop PC which you are not gonna move, or you have multiple PC's in a network, I would go for a cable..

But if you're to lazy to lay the cable then wireless is an option if the distance between the wireless router/modem and your PC is not to far away (usually 10-15m is max indoors).. Get a internal adapter for your desktop PC (laptops have them built in), they are usually a bit better then a USB one.. And make sure you use WPA2 security on your wireless network, that's the safest..

Trust me dude, if going `wired` means a little extra agro with cabling etc then go for it because, although wireless works, it can be the biggest pain in the butt ever!. You`ll never beat wired IMO.

My Ps3 can load up 6 web pages over a wired connection quicker than it loads up one page via it`s built-in wireless. I`ve got a great set-up and know what I`m doing with regards to simple home L.A.N networking too but my Ps3 really is in a world of it`s own when =the wireless is turned on and pretty much everything that I once had connected to my L.A.N via wireless dongles etc has now gone out of the window (literally in most cases) and has been replaced with the good old fashioned RJ45 again lol.

It`s also worth pointing out that a long time ago we suffered a bad lightning storm. Although I had unplugged every electrical piece of equipment I own, I had forgotten to unplug my RJ 11`s and `45`s. A lightning bolt hit the phone line and fried my pc`s onboard L.A.N port, my old Xbox crystal, my router and both of my microfilters (I had charcoaled bits falling out of them lol). If my gear had`ve been wireless then it would`ve saved me alot of hassle, not to mention money too.

Overall though, stick with wires matey and opt for a really good cable, even if you have to pay a little bit more for it. It`ll be worth it in the long run buddy.
