Saints Row 2 was at the Festival des Jeux Videos, and I noticed someone playing in a rather different but certainly funny mode, so enjoy this not so safe for work video :)

I don't get it where the direction of this game headed... these folks have a substantial technology at hand, and they can make an absolutely startling product out of it, but it seems like they are still after GTA:SA from 4 years back, c'mon, what's the point in making so much possible on the horizon when nothing in it stays special? This game is like the collection of casual boring things from everyday life, and a lot of 'em !

Are you talking about GTA IV? Because SR2 is anything but a "collection of casual boring things from everyday life"

lol casual borign things from everyday life.
You streak in the middle of a highway in your everyday life? Or shoot poop from a tanker truck on schools?
Yeah this game is pretty nasty, but i like the screw-censorship attitude.
Though this video makes me realize how alive GTA4's cities are. Idk, probably gonna feel better when i get my hands on this game.

I'll buy it. I loved the first one. Never really played through the story, though, the conquering of areas was boring. But playing around with the character, customizing cars, excessive use of cheats... great fun.
I'm German, so I build a stereotypical car mechanic from the German Ruhrgebiet, complete with wivebeater shirt and handlebar mustache, who was on a USA-Germany exchange program for car mechanics who got dragged into this whole hood stuff.
With this pretext, what I saw of the story was nothing short of hilarious.

Great, I thought it was gonna be more dark and brown (aka next-gen style), but it's still collorful, like the first game!!! Then it's a first-day-buy for me.

Seems to me like this game will be greater then the sum of its parts. I'm sorta tired of this shit. Instead of lavishing it with small minigames and shock pop cash ins, how bout you make things truley respectable and fun.

i wouldnt say it was a collection of casual "boring things from every day life", but i do think it is a large collection of very shallow elements geared towards the immature younger gamer.
its almost become a bit of a joke game. almost if the "Jackass" crew got together and made a game.
im sure the game will be fun enough, but it seems to be fun at the expense of depth.

KORNdog what was GTA to you?
The onyl thing this lacks is the mroe adult style. Everythign about it is where GTA4 failed.

but thats just my opinion on the matter. i know people who prefare saints row, and i enjoyed the first quilte a lot, i personally cant understand why or how someone could prefer it to GTA, but hey, to each their own right?

Yeah cause depth is way more important than fun. I'd much rather sit here emulating real life experiences and bored out of my freakin' mind than messing about with FUN childish pranks for hours on end and having the time of my life.
In fact, depth is so important to me, I'm not even typing this message. I'm playing Sim Internet and my bored, tired avatar is idly browsing gamersyde and replying to these downright weird opinions some people have on what makes up entertainment these days.

I think people still need to remember Saints Row 2 still has a deep story in it. The only reason they're advertising the crazy and wacky things is because of the backlash GTA4 received for not including such things.

Every time I see a video of this game, I start thinking I'm going to pick it up (among the 8 other must-buys for me in the next 2 months). Good video, and from what I saw, the LOD seems WAY less glitchy in this one than in the first.

I really LIKED the trailers for this game they looked awesome... The game looks super ROUGH gameplay wise compared to GTA 4 imo and a quite rough around the edges.
Have to see more but this really looks outdated.

GTA IV had a great story, but depth? Once I finished the main story, I never touched the game again. The side missions/activites were ridiculously boring, most of the missions were very repetitive and tedious, and the game just generally wasn't much fun to play. Rockstar completely lost track of why people liked the series, and why San Andreas was so popular.
I can understand the term "shallow" being used for Saints Row, but in the end I see this being far more enjoyable than GTA IV ever will be, being able to do things like base jumping off buildings/planes with a buddy, or surfing on top of vehicles, throwing people into trains, etc is actually going to be fun to do, and none of them are different modes, it's all things you can freely do at any point.
I don't see why that makes it shallow, compared to GTA IV's bowling, which was not only shallow, but entirely unsatisfying.
